Bill - Despite Bredesen's sagging approval ratings, do you think that he will have serious opposition next year? Governor's running for second terms in Tennessee traditionally haven't had much of a task being re-elected (e.g. beating John Jay wasn't really too tough - Sundquist could have come out early for the state income tax and still have whupped Hooker). Someone at lunch today mentioned (was it E. Bryant or you??) that Corker is running for the wrong office...as an exec he should be running for governor. I really wish he was. Maybe Republican blogger types should encourage that move. Corker clearly is going nowhere in the Senate race (unless Bryant and Hilleary knock each other out, and my guess here is that Bryant is the stronger candidate). A candidate like Corker, or actually Corker himself would certainly have a lot of support from folks who traditionally vote Democratic but who are unhappy with Phil. At this point, I'd certainly vote for Corker. Posted by: John Hutcheson at September 21, 2005 09:45 PMPost a comment
