« Where In The World Is Bill Hobbs? | Main | Livin' Large » September 17, 2005People MoversThe Washington DC Metro is rather photogenic - not to mention frequent and fast. It certainly beats the Philadelphia transit system I grew up with. Unfortunately I was in a hurry and couldn't stick around, but I was able to grab these shots as I passed through. The impossibly tall and steep escalator is at the Rosslyn station. I hung out at the Freedom Forum offices for about an hour, then headed on to Reagan National Airport for the flight home. Ahh, Rosslyn - deep, but not as deep as Dupont. I spent a lot of time at Rosslyn station while in law school when I lived off of Crystal City, transferring to Virginia Square. Then I lived off Court House for a year. The DC Metro is second to none in the realm of world mass transit. That all being said, I wouldn't trade it day-for-day for Nashville for anything. Posted by: Nathan Moore at September 18, 2005 08:32 PMHeh, I was at Reagan on Saturday morning. I hope you trip went more smoothly than mine! Posted by: Busy Mom at September 19, 2005 10:57 AMYou want deep escalators? Try Wheaton station, on the Glenmont half of the Red Line. Those are the longest escalators in the world, I think. The station after it, Forest Glen, is too deep underground for escalators, and uses elevators to get people down there. Posted by: B. Minich, PI at September 19, 2005 12:14 PMPost a comment
