Lunchtime Links

It's lunchtime and I'm again at Bongo Java for the grilled Bongo Gobbler sandwich and the free wi-fi. The ratio of customers to laptops is about 2:1.

... Shaun Groves's song "Bless the Lord" from his new White Flag CD is one of my current favorites on Christian radio - and also a joy to sing live at church. Groves has a blog, called Schlog. Check it out here. Shaun's blog doesn't get enough traffic so visit!

Grove's website for his music is ShaunGroves.com.

... The new edition of the Nashville Scene has a good column from writer and PithInTheWind.com blogger Roger Abramson titled "Keeping the Faith: Jesus is just all right with Tennessee Democrats, too." Abramson:

So, if you're scoring at home, the Tennessee Democratic Party is busily talking about values, faith and Christianity in politics while leading Tennessee Republicans are holding a town meeting at a prominent African American church for people lacking access to health care. This, folks, is why you need newspapers. If you didn't read it here, you'd never believe this stuff.
You can read it here.

... One third of the people in Canada's four Western provinces - Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia - say the region should consider seceding from Canada and forming a new country, according to a new poll. Ben Cunningham suggests they ought to become our 51st, 52nd and 53rd state.

... Dana Blankenhorn says blogging changes journalists: "In simple terms, it reduces the distance. You're no longer a star. They're no longer the audience."

... Jeff Jarvis writes again about why he's not going to live-blog Justice Sunday II, after Charmaine Yoest gently chides him for his first response.

... Blake Wylie hasn't been writing as much at Nashville Files since he returned from a mission trip to Moldova. Perhaps he has two weeks' worth of work to catch up on. Meanwhile, you can always go back and read the archives of the Mission to Moldova blog that Blake set up for all of the people on that trip. Lots of good stuff.

If you live in Middle Tennessee and don't have anything planned for the evening of Nov. 29th, be here to honor some heroes and point out some role models to your kids.

...Okay, lunch break's over, everyone, back on your heads.

Awesome site Bill.

As for Shaun Groves:
I really enjoyed taking my daughters to see Mr. Groves at The People's Church. The music was awesome and they enjoyed getting his autograph. He is such a wonderful singer and deserves much more recognition. I was really impressed with his passion for serving. That part really stood out to me; for someone with his talent to show so much focus on serving- What a true "true" individual.
AS for the new CD, it is great. I really like track 8 "bless the lord, track 4 "white flags" and my personal favorite is track 11 "Peace has broken out"
Thank you Shaun!
Ed
