« 2 Live Crew | Main | Ethics Panel May Investigate Cooper » August 10, 2005Political Bloggers' Lunch With Sen. KuritaAre you a Tennessee blogger who specializes in writing about state or national politics? If so, you may be invited to a special "bloggers' lunch" August 29 with state Sen. Rosalind Kurita, D-Clarksville. Kurita, a candidate for the U.S. Senate, has agreed to take questions and engage in a discussion with bloggers regarding state and national policy issues and politics.
After I first suggested in an email to several Tennessee political bloggers the idea for a monthly bloggers' lunch with a political guest, and contacted the Kurita campaign, Sharon Cobb was very helpful in arranging a reservation at a Nashville restaurant - so you can tell this is intended as a non-partisan/bi-partisan event. Kurita seemed to be the perfect choice as the first guest at a Tennessee political bloggers' lunch given that she recently became the first Tennessee politician in history to advertise nationally on blogs - and because she is involved both in national politics as a Senate candidate and in such hot state issues as legislative ethics reform and TennCare as a member of the state Senate. We have room for just 10-12 bloggers at this first event, which will not be open to the public or the news media. Some bloggers have already been notified by email. If you are a Tennessee political blogger and did not receive the email and wish to attend, or to be notified of future events, please email me at bill-at-billhobbs.com. This is for Tennessee political bloggers only, and if we have more than 12 interested in attending, Nashville-area bloggers will be given preference. We hope to do more events like this and open it up to more bloggers, but also want to keep the event manageable and produtive. If you don't live close enough to Nashville to attend regularly, consider starting a version of this with the political bloggers in your city. Posted in Campaign Season
