Harold Ford Jr., Spammer

I received via email today a mass-email newsletter from the Senate campaign of U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Jr. In other words, spam - as I didn't request it nor sign up for his newsletter. Ford ought to tell his campaign to stop spamming people. I clicked the unsubscribe link. I also clicked "Report Phishing" and "Report Spam" on my Gmail account.

Why would you report phishing?

"Phishing is a form of fraud in which a message sender pretends to be a representative of a legitimate organization in an attempt to trick the recipient into divulging important personal information like a password or bank account number."

Clearly the email was not that.

Because the campaign spammed me.

My current spam folder now has 1822 messages in it. They range from Oprah Magazine to Christian dating. I have no idea how I get these. I would imagine since I publically release my email on the web, much the way you do yours. If we make it public, we are only asking for spam, you have to understand that.

The spam came to an email address that I have NEVER released online. The only Ford supporter who has it is, um, Chris D. Jackson.

You can accuse me all you want, but I did not release your email to anyone. I also take offense that you would imply I did that.

Let's see if we can do some simple Math

Bill has secret Email account
Chris has that email account
Bill is now receiving SPAM email

Chris, it adds up that you gave out email. Same thing happened to an email account that I gave out only one time, and that was to the John Kerry folks, 1 day after that I was receiving SPAM, almost 2500 in two days I had even "signed" up for 42 efax accounts.

how quaint

Ok, whatever. I swear I didn't give his email out to anyone. You guys act like I have control of the email base or something. Again, I am not in the habit of giving out people's email.

Posted by: Chris D. Jackson at August 6, 2005 07:25 AM

FWIW, the Ford folks finally stopped spamming me after four requests.

My mistake. Wrote too soon.

The Ford camp has me back on a list and I just received more unsolicted e-mails.

"Clearly the email was not that."

Wait, I thought you didn't release anything. Clearly you have knowledge of the unsolicited spam that was sent to Bill.

When you are dealing with racist, uninformed shills from East Tennessee, not union toadies - you really should bring your "A" game.
