« "You either fight back or run away." | Main | Stepford Fans » July 17, 2005Yeah. But What About the Issues.?The Tennessean reports on fundraising data from most of the candidates running for the U.S. Senate seat that Sen. Bill Frist will vacate after 2006, and focuses on the one candidate from each party that the paper will most certainly eventually endorse, Republican Bob Corker and Democrat Harold Ford Jr. Now if they would only report on Ford's endorsement of the recent Supreme Court decision, in Kelo v. New London, giving government the unhindered right to take private property for any reason - and inform voters of his vote against sensible legislation to reign in the Kelo decision - and Ford's record of support for legislation undermining private property right sin America. And if only they would explore why it might be that Corker is the only one of the six Senate candidates who has not made a public statement about his views on Kelo at all. Doing such coverage is tougher work than merely looking at the quarterly financial disclosures and getting a quote or two from each camp. It's called journalism. But it's worth doing, and important if voters are to select their next nominee based on issues raised rather than cash raised. Posted in 2006 TN Senate Race

Bill, Your survey of U.S. Senate candidates was so successful (83% survey response is phenomenal), why don't you expand that survey to the 99 state house members and the 33 state senators? Posted by: Bob K at July 17, 2005 11:40 AMPost a comment
