« The People's Legislature? | Main | A Fair Tax » June 27, 2005Civic PrideOne of my favorite places along I-40 in Tennessee is about 45 minutes west of Nashville, a town called Bucksnort. Actually, I've never been to Bucksnort except for stopping at the gas station off the Bucksnort exit. But I like Bucksnort mainly because I can't believe anyone actually named their town Bucksnort. As Nashville continues to grow like kudzu, I have often said I know where the metro area's western expansion will come to a halt. Bucksnort. No one will ever buy nice homes in subdivisions called "Bucksnort Farms" or "Bucksnort Hills." One enterprising Bucksnortian (Bucksnortist? Bucksnorter?) has Bucksnort.com emblazoned on the side of a barn along I-40, so I checked it out. Turns out it's for the Bucksnort Trout Ranch. I may have to return to Bucksnort one day soon and take some more photographs. Posted in Photoblogging

This has nothing to do with Bucksnort, but Bill, would you please make an announcement about Neal Boortz airing this week from 9-12 on 99.7 WTN? Phil's show is going to air during the G. Gordon (Zzzzzzzzz..) Liddy afternoon slot. If enough folks call or email the station, I think they might consider a permanant position for Neal. And I do believe that phil's listenership would increase if he were moved to the PM drive. Well this IS about Bucksnort. How can you not love a place with a name like that. I've actually been to the BTR, too. My husband "just happened" to have a fly rod in the trunk on a trip home from Memphis--doesn't everyone take a fly rod to a wedding? It was my first failed attempt at fly fishing... Posted by: sbk at June 27, 2005 12:49 PMBucksnort was a regular stop for my family when we'd travel from Texas to southeastern Kentucky to visit relatives...at least, until Dad got some bad coffee there. I'm glad it's still there. Posted by: RadioDad at June 27, 2005 05:17 PMI've playing music at the Bucksnort Trail Ride for years. They come from all over with their horses and campers and spend a week out in the country. It makes Hooterville look metropolitan. Posted by: Cal at June 27, 2005 06:43 PMPost a comment
