Bubba Blab

Michael Silence has a story in today's Knoxville paper regarding the self-outing of the formerly anonymous blogger South Knox Bubba. SKB declined to be interviewed for the story, and is now whining on his blog, http://southknoxbubba.net/skblog, that the story isn't unbalanced in his favor. Whatever. Okay then.

Man, does that web site need serious help.

He declined to be interviewed, but they also left out key points of the story -- the letter that caused him to go public seemed fairly relevant to me, but why didn't they publish it?

You also seem a little vicious in your post here. Why? Wouldn't you feel threatened if someone sent you an email like that? Notsomuch the "outing" part, but threatening to reveal credit history, etc etc? Particularly from a man who has the capability and connections to do so?

Are you really standing up for Conley's actions? Surely not.

The way I see it, there is no constitutional right to remain anonymous, and South Knox Bubba was playing hardball with two reporters for the Knox News Sentinel, so Conley threatened to expose SKB's identity to get him to back off. It's amazing how accountability (or the threat of it) will make someone tone down their rhetoric. He's not a freakin' whistleblower, he's a guy that's afraid his liberalism will hurt his business (whatever that is). Cry me a river, SKB.

I'd like to look at this story, but I don't like registrations, and I really don't like huge ones.

I'm a right-wing guy, neocon, low taxes etc., but I would have been ticked off in the extreme at Conley if I'd got that email posted at SKB's site.

Perhaps as Insty says, Conley didn't really mean a threat, but I would have taken it as one, which Insty also said.

And yes, some of the commenters on SKB's site seem a touch filled with contempt for us evil/stupid Rethuglicans. Sad really.
