I don't know Bill, I looked at the first expose', and was less than bowled over. Perhaps its because I have such a low center of cynicism which keeps me well grounded in the muck that is politics. The fact that a politician might have a plan to deal with other people not accepting plan no. 1 is actually a good thing, come to think of it. Keep in mind that this is a lady who was compared to Michael Moore by some of her potential interview subjects, and found it a compliment. I admit that Bredesen saying that people will die is serious, though, but thats the only serious bit. And this is my dissection of her piece for what I like to call Hohenwald News. But I'll check her latest, anyways. Posted by: Eric R. Ashley at June 16, 2005 09:41 AMHello Eric: I have no problem with you not liking me or the way I write or whatever. But what I am writing is not a liberal or conservative issue. And what is so frustrating, is mainstream media is not showing documents that can PROVE (A) Bredesen lied about why TennCare needed to be cut, and (B) he is politcially motivated and wants to add back some of the people in 06. This SHOULD be our Memogate. I've spent the last 6 months of my life working on this everyday...for free...because it is so important. And the reason I am coming forward now is I wouldn't do so without the documents in my hands. I knew about them, I had seen them, but I refused to report such explosive stories without being able to show definitive proof. That's just being a very good, but cautious investigative reporter. I also have a problem when some refer to me as a former journalist. What I am doing now is top notch investigative journalism. I am age 48, and I started in radio/televison and print media at age 18, which means I have 30 YEARS of experience, 5 of it with national news. So, I don't think my wealth of experience and accomplishments should be negated because I am reporting these facts for free on the Internet. Lastly, you mention Michael Moore. He had a huge influence on me. Long before F 9/11, he and his wife had a television show called "The Awful Truth." They were telling the stories that needed to be told that mainstream media wouldn't touch. It had such an influence over me that I decided to go to film school at age 45 so I could tell the stories that needed to be told; so I could be a one person media operation. The people who were afraid to deal with me because they knew I wouldn't back down or be intimidated are cowards. I do consider it a compliment that they know I can't be intimidated. Believe me, I wish someone in mainstream media would take over--lead the charge. I'm exhausted and don't get paid to do this. I'm not well and it takes a lot out of me. However, I couldn't sleep at night knowing what I know and not exposing it. I have nothing to gain from this except some sleep and a clear conscience. So please, if you don't like what I am doing, I encourage you to do it yourself. Go to the Federal Courthouse and pour over 50 boxes of documents from the discovery phase of the trial. Please...do this so I can get some rest. Until you, or someone else does this, however, I have no choice but to do it because it is the right thing to do. - Sharon Posted by: Sharon Cobb at June 16, 2005 12:57 PMSharon, You're a good writer, and a person concerned to make her world a better place for all. I cast no doubt on the information you find as an investigative reporter. Granted, blogging is often journalism, but people still grant people who have done it for a paper or a TV station more respect. I've written a novel, but its self-published which does not garner the same respect as sending it to NYC. So it was mostly a compliment. I see it as a liberal thing for you. That is, there is a certain mindset, as a liberal activist that you bring to the facts. I'm a Republican, a cynic about human nature (and especially government), and so I bring a different mindset to the facts. To put it more plainly, you probably see Nixon as Evil, while I see him as mostly a good guy except for some minor thing like Watergate, and the more important flaw of WIN. So when I look at your list of charges, its either complimentary (as in, I'm glad we have a skillful politician for once), or mildly troubling, and only one thing strikes me as newsworthy-that is, his admitting that people will die. My mind is not closed on this issue. But so far, I see a tiny flame, and not a wildfire. And I think that when even liberals who reviewed F911 thought it dishonest, that that is good enough for me. And I hope you get to feeling better. Take care of yourself. Eric Posted by: at June 16, 2005 07:49 PMPost a comment
