« BlogNashville News Coverage | Main | Blogging is Freedom » May 7, 2005Blogging BlogNashvilleMichael Silence of the Knoxville News Sentinel is blogging from BlogNashville. I attended the session on blogging and journalism with Glenn Reynolds, Bill Hobbs and others. ... What I was most impressed with about the session was the absense of any Old Media versus New Media mentality. Instead, the tone throughout was working together to inform people well and give them more freedom in access to information. That's the way I view blogging and journalism. Radio didn't kill print journalism. TV didn't kill radio or print. The Internet and blogs won't kill print, radio or print. But it will do to them what each successive new media platform does to the ones that came before - force it to adapt. Blogs are bringing interactivity to the news media that it desperately needs. And cheap digital technology such as blogs, laptop PCs, digital cameras and video recorders are making it possible for more people to be active producers of news and information not just passive consumers of it. I'm currently in the mil-blogging session run by Robin Burke. Excellent. And lucky for you it is being audio-recorded. Posted in BlogNashville

Ditto on forcing old media to adapt to new medium, as well as minimizing costs for new medium (blogging), as well as interconnecting news in new and multiple ways. But let me add something you have not said above: Blogging by its nature bounces news about in a pinball fashion so that news+blogs=NewMeaning. I find this aspect so paradoxical since blogging invites diversity and yet drives towards some answer. Thanks for you work at BlogNashville. Posted by: Bailes at May 8, 2005 02:43 PMPost a comment
