« Blogging the Tennessee Legislature's Ethics Debate | Main | You Big Mouth, You! Turns 3 » April 18, 2005The Cold Card FactsYou may have noticed the credit card ad over in the right side column. If you're in the market for a new credit card, consider applying for it - it's also a fund-raiser for the California Republican Party. Affinity cards are a great way to show your support for a cause and generate some funds for that cause by doing what you do anyway - shop and buy stuff. Ah, but doesn't offering a credit card send the wrong message? Should a conservative blog be pushing debt? C'mon, get real. Credit cards are a part of modern life, and it is possible to use credit responsibly. If you can't handle the card, don't apply for it. I'll be leaving the ad up for awhile. In the meantime, I wonder if I could offer a BillHobbs.com-branded card? Posted in Site News

As I emailed you earlier on this (and blogged) - I think there are far better ways for a political party to raise funds for their causes. By promoting a credit/debt card while they continue to spend recklessly; racking up the debt in federal and many state governments is not the most ideal way of doing so. In that regard there is little difference whether a politician has a -D or -R behind their name. I'd be equally critical of a DNC card as I am a GOP card, lest I be labeled inconsistent. I don't fault you for raising funds for you site in the blogad - but I wish someone at the CA GOP would have put a bit more thought into this before promoting this. It just isn't the best face for them to be putting forward. After all - what would Dave Ramsey say? By promoting a credit/debt card while they continue to spend recklessly; racking up the debt in federal and many state governments is not the most ideal way of doing so. Republicans and Democrats alike have a serious problem in handling credit that the American taxpayers extend to them. They should be the *last* people promoting further debt on a personal level. I don't fault you for raising funds for your site in the blogad - thats one of the great things about capitalism, choices. But I wish someone at the CA GOP would have put a bit of thought into this before moving forward. It just isn't the best face for them to be putting forward and it reeks of irony to the average taxpayer. I posted my first one and it never showed. 45 minutes later I posted again - nothing and gave up. Now I see it took many hours for them to appear. Posted by: DocB at April 19, 2005 06:33 AMYeah. Amazingly I don't sit at my PC 24/7 checking every five minutes to see if new comments have been posted. Sorry. If everyone who reads this blog at least once a month will donate $25 a month in the tipjar, I'll quite my job and run this blog full-time, but until then... patience!
