« NYT Hack Job | Main | Blogging the Tennessee Legislature's Ethics Debate » April 18, 2005In The News
UPDATE: Matt White has some good comments on the Tennessean's profile of Cunningham: The paper mentions Tennesseans for Fair Taxation without pointing out that they are a pro-tax organization. They also print the group's executive director saying that [Ben's] "views do not reflect those of a majority of Tennesseans." It is an assertion with no basis in fact. Does anyone seriously believe that the legislature courageously stood against public opinion in shelving the income tax? Preposterious. As for Cunningham, White notes his modesty regarding the paper's high-profile profile. I usually get a handful of emails everyday from Ben or TTR about issues from taxes to ethics. Today, when he was featured in a major daily newspaper, Ben didn't let me know about it. Typical of a guy who is busy at work being the voice of the taxpayer instead of blowing his own horn.Lance Frizzell - who is press secretary for the House Republican Caucus in the Tennessee legislature when he's not off helping save Iraqis from the bad guys, also comments on the piece.
