Open Up!

The Tennessean urges better efforts by state and local officials to make public records open to the public. You wouldn't think public officials would be so bad at making public records easily available to the people who pay their salary. Sadly, they do. And the legislation discussed in the editorial is being considered by a legislature that, ironically, has managed to exempt itself from public records laws.

This is too rich. Bush has classified every document of his father's administration and his own too. This is the most secretive administration in history. Reporters and historians have tried for years thur the courts and the Freedom of Information Act to get information and everybody wonders what the Bushes are hiding.

President clinton, for all the accusations that he is a liar and a crook has opened ALL THE DOCUMENTS OF HIS ADMINISTRATION in the Clinton Library for historians and reporters. Unfortunately the so-called reporters are not interested in any of that. They'd rather consult Matt Drudge for info on clinton.

Donald Rumsfeld set up an Office of Disinformation.

Having said all that - what difference does it make if every public document is made public?

We have knowledge of all kinds of information and facts. But what do republicans rely on totally and completely? The republican daily talking points. The Talking Points are raised to the level of the Holy Bible and are considered to be God's own Truth. What in God's name would you have any use for public records? Please stop! You are killing me. If I laugh any harder I may bust a gut.

Reporters go on CNN and they say "Bush said today that he is the greatest war President ever." Yo reporters. Are you not supposed to INVESTIGATE and report your findings and then let it be debated and decided who is the greatest whatever? Yeah, I think so. But thats not how things get done and republicans can then come out and say "Bush is the greatest war president ever".

Please. Sufficient unto the day are the daily talking points. Leave public reports and documents to others. They along with facts, reason, logic and truth exist for republicans to ignore. Don't strain yourself.

Who do you think composes the Holy Republican Talking Points? I'll bet its the Grand Inquisitor Karl Rove.

Would you have recommended the same standards for Mr. Cheney's consultations with energy industry officials? We're still waiting on that one.
