How A Blog Swarm Stopped the FEC's Evil Plan

Don't miss the National Journal's comprehensive report on how the blogosphere beat back a plan by the Federal Election Commission to muzzle free political speech on blogs in the name of "campaign finance reform." Also, sort of related, I blogged about it last night, but it's already way down the page, so I want to again urge you to read Frank Cagle's column in Knoxville's Metro Pulse predicting blogs are going to play a major role in the 2006 U.S. Senate race in Tennessee. Cagle is one of the most knowledgeable and consistently on-target political columnists in Tennessee.

Blogs are the new force in journalism and politics. Learn more about it at BlogNashville, May 5-7 . (If I was a journalist or a politician, I wouldn't miss it.)

Absolutly we have to stop any efforts to regulate information on the internet or allow corporations or the government to control what people are able to see online the way they control everything we see on tv or hear on the radio.

Mr Hobbs have you seen the vblogs online? Why not try some of that yourself?

Yeula, I'd love to do some video blogging. All I lack is the software and the video camera. Tell ya what - You drop $500 in the tip jar and I'll go get the software and the camera and start v-blogging!

Thanks for standing up for freedom of speech Bill.

Also Texas business owner Dick Simkanin's appeal is finally underway in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.

Bill, I found out about BlogNashville through your site, and I am looking forward to it a great deal. I hope I get to meet you and many other members of this multi-faceted but single-medium revolution.

Joe, same.

Yeula, I don't have a digital video camera, and don't want to buy a cheap-but-lousy one.
