Despite the (limited) bloodbath it inspired, the report definitely pussyfoots. No evidence of political bias? No proof that the documents are fake? Then how do they explain all those heads rolling around on the floor at CBS? It's like a plea bargain, allowing CBS to plead guilty to sloppiness and excessive zeal, and serve a reduced sentence by sacrificing four execs. But the charge they are actually guilty of is fabricating news for propaganda purposes, and the full punishment for that should be Rather's and Heyward's heads on platters. It is still hard to believe that a news organization as prominent as CBS would purposely engage in a story that they knew to be false and had provability that hung by only a slender thread. They deserve all of the criticism that has been leveled at them. Would you say that Fox News is politically biased? Posted by: SemiPundit at January 12, 2005 10:36 AMWhen FoxNews spends countless hours and money chasing a bogus story about a prominent Democrat and pushes it on air, despite knowing (or should know) it's false, I'll say FoxNews is politically biased. Posted by: Ivan at January 12, 2005 07:58 PMI meant politically biased, not overzealous or incompetent. I'll honestly say "no," I don't think FoxNews is biased. I think they're down the middle. The "feeling" some have that they lean right most likely results in comparisons to CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC. Compared to those outfits, "fair and balanced" looks right-leaning. I truly think those guys are so far left, it makes "down the middle" seem righty. I'm not trying to pick a fight or be a FoxNews ideologue. Objectively, I think the above statements have merit. Thoughts? Posted by: Ivan at January 13, 2005 09:34 PMI actually believe that they all want to do the right thing and that they attempt to do factual reporting and anaylsis. I also know that all organizations are influence by their culture and news outlets are no exception. Fox is clearly friendlier to the administration.
