New Year, Same War

Happy New Year, from Cox & Forkum

In some Lefty circles, there's a new anti-war slogan circulating that goes like this: "Home Alive in 2005." While I appreciate the desire to have all of our troops come home from foreign combat zones alive as soon as possible, it is a misguided slogan that would, if pursued as the top priority goal, lead to the deaths of more Americans, not fewer. Bring the troops home too soon and the forces of Islamofascist terror will be left to continue their jihad against America.

And so, 2004 ends, and 2005 begins with American troops still in the field, still fighting for freedom and the expansion of democracy to a people who desperately need it. Home alive in 2005? If God wills that we achieve a tenable victory this year, so be it. Otherwise, "Home Alive in 2005" is a slogan for surrender. The only viable choice is to bring the troops home only as soon as we've won -and not one day sooner.

Hmmm - how about an appended version?

"Home Alive in 2005, victorious spreading freedom where despots once deprived."

"A job well done, victory has arrived, glad you are coming home alive in 2005.
