« Tennessee GOP Begs Wilder: "Pick" More Republicans | Main | Four! » December 27, 2004Blogs and the Future of JournalismJust ordered from Amazon: Hugh Hewitt's new book, Blog : Understanding the Information Reformation That's Changing Your World . Hewitt's book looks at how the blogosphere is smashing the old media monopoly - a very good thing in my book. You may also notice that I'm running a blogad for the book. I haven't read it yet, but I understand the premise of the book and, from having spent a lot of time reading Hugh's weblog and his books In, But Not Of and If It's Not Close, They Can't Cheat, I know it'll be good. Hewitt understands the blogosphere, the media and politics in ways Big Media doesn't. The smart folks in Big Media will read this book, but I suspect most of the mainstream media will ignore it. But you can read it - and then you can help smash the mainstream media's corrosive, biased and less-than-credible monopoly. Also ordered from Amazon: Dan Gillmor's recent and well-reviewed book of similar focus, We The Media, which examines how through a variety of technologies, grassroots journalists are dismantling Big Media's monopoly on the news, transforming it from a lecture to a conversation. Read 'em both. Posted in Blogging & Journalism

Mr. Hobbs, How do you like the "improvement" to Lt. Frizzell's site? Posted by: SemiPundit at December 27, 2004 11:12 AMWell, obviously I'd prefer comments. Most bloggers would. He would. But he is following his commanders' orders, and the mission is the priority not the blog. Posted by: Bill at December 27, 2004 12:39 PMI was just a little while ago thinking about what the exact url string would be for those of us who are Amazon.com Associates. That is a simple and convenient way to possibly raise some much-neede dinero. It hasn't worked at all for me so far... How is your 'Associates' program going? (You've definitely done a much better job than me at implementing it; I wish I had been doing that.) Thanks to you, I now know what url to use for people to do their own shopping at Amazon.com, without me having to provide them with the special url string for individual items. That url string is: Thanks, and I want to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Posted by: Aakash at December 27, 2004 07:14 PMPost a comment
