At the Crossroads of War and Peace

Donald Sensing is on a blogging hiatus (and the blogosphere is poorer for it), but he's not disappeared. Check out this column from Tennessean columnist Tim Chavez:

The Rev. Donald Sensing is living at the epicenter of the political debate that's rattling this nation and leaving much of it divided. First, he has two children in school - a fifth-grade daughter and a son in high school. Security moms (parents) may well decide the presidential race based on who can best protect their children from terror.

Second, he has an older son who completes boot camp this month and becomes a Marine. Iraq may be part of his son's duty. And 80 U.S. soldiers were killed last month there, not to mention many more Iraqis, including children.

Third, he is a man of God, the pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church. And the moral debate on this war still rages.

Fourth, Sensing is a veteran, a retired artillery officer. Last week's presidential debate centered on whether we sent our troops into the right mission with the right intelligence with a way to win the peace.

Despite these political issues pressing on his personal life, Sensing has found direction and meaning: ''The two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you discover why...

Read the whole thing. Even though he hasn't blogged for a few weeks now - and may not blog again any time soon - Sensing is still contributing to the debate.
