Book Recommendation

I mentioned it yesterday, and I'm doing it again: recommending a new book by George Friedman, president of Stratfor, a firm that delivers global strategic forecasting and open-source intelligence analysis to corporate clients, about the War on Terror.

The book, America's Secret War: Inside the Hidden Worldwide Struggle Between the United States and Its Enemies, contends that President Bush and his foreign policy team decided to go to war with Iraq in order to motivate Saudi Arabia to truly crack down on al Qaeda - and that the strategy is working. As I said yesterday, if the book is true - and Stratfor's track record is pretty good - then the Bush administration is fighting a much smarter and more sophisticated war against Islamist terror than it is given credit for. The book is #7 at Amazon today.
