I'm not that old (36, yeah, I know, keep telling yourself that and maybe you'll believe it) but I knew within a couple of seconds that the memos were faked when I first looked at them. Those wondering how I knew so easily need only look at this comparison. I don't even need to see what an actual memo looked like; I spent plenty of time on an old Royal manual typewriter as well as more modern IBM Selectrics at school. I know what monospaced type looks like, and I know that the fakes surely aren't monospaced. In a word, they're just too "pretty". The idea that Dan Rather, with so many years of experience in journalism, didn't reach the same conclusion in the same time as me is incredible. And I mean "incredible" in the real sense of the word: not believable. Dan Rather needs to step down after apologizing to President Bush and the American people.
