Memogate: Media Stalks Burkett, Abilene Kinko's

The Abilene Reporter-News has a good story on the media frenzy surrounding the Kinko's store from where, it is suspected, long-ago-discredited Bush-hater Bill Burkett, a resident of the nearby town of Baird, may have faxed the forged memos to CBS.

Unlike in February, when Burkett came forward with a report that he had spotted aides to then-Gov. George W. Bush discarding documents from Bush's Air National Guard files, he was avoiding the media Wednesday and Thursday. Repeated phone calls by the Reporter-News were not returned or not answered, an experience shared by other reporters.
Burkett has never been able to substantiate his claims, and indeed key witnesses have refuted his charges. No wonder he's avoiding the media.
