Liars' Defense: "Trust Me"

Charles Johnson over at LGF predicts that CBS's statement today will have CBS insisting their story is true CBS will argue that in order to fully prove the story is true, they would have to burn their source, which journalistic ethics do not permit them to do. In other words, the "trust us" defense. But CBS's track record of previous stories based on forged documents and blockbuster stories that turned out to be false leaves little room for trusting them. CBS has a precarious relationship to the truth. And the mountain of evidence - forensics and witnesses - that these memos are forgeries is the last straw.

CBS tried to rig the game when it had them analyzed, but ...

The memos are forged. Dan Rather is a liar. And CBS is standing by their story.

Today will not be CBS' finest moment.

Sorry. I didn't mean for it to show that way.

The url shows what a jerk Blather is. He hid in the Reserves to stay out of Korea (until immediately after it was over) and when we met him in Saudi in 1990 he greatly played up his "former Marine" history. As it turns out, he ain't got no former Marine history. When you're thrown out, you're thrown out. What a jerk. (If I got the hotlink here, sorry. I can't remember where I found it.)

It may show just that. My point in posting it was the local, Nashville, angle.

You mean people actually hide out in the Reserves?
