Long time coming. I lived in Germany twice for a total of nearly seven years. This couldn't happen at a better time. We can move right on into the new century and Germans can repeat that old "angst" that they are genetically incapable of dumping. It's time for them to pay their own way for security and act like adults instead of rebellious teenagers.

Our "occupying forces" in Germany and Japan were stationed in those imperialistic countries for nearly 60 years after their defeat. But the one year our troops have spent in Iraq is a quagmire.
I concur wholeheartedly with the sentiment that it is time for Germany to provide for its own defense. The nations of "old Europe" have relied on our military for defense for decades, while they invest their oppressive tax structure into socialized medicine and other government-controlled statist measures. Everyone should read "Hating America" by Fox News' John Gibson for the real attitude of our "friends and allies."
