What We Need is An Association of Niche Organizations

One of the things I figured out early on as a business reporter 14 years ago is that, no matter what industry or subject I was writing about, there was at least one industry assocation or trade group that could provide me with data or quotes or resources. But even I would have never guessed there was an organization, association, council or foundation for this.

There is one: The Association of Association Executives (http://www.asaenet.org) is a gigantic organization comprised of every kind of association you can think of.

Clarification: Sorry, the name is the American Society of Association Executives.

ASAE actually puts out one of the best job listing bulletins I've ever seen - CEOupdate.com. Their building is a block away from me.

There are literally thousands of associations here in D.C. Leadership Directories puts out an exhaustive listing of them - its quite a big book.
