Blogging@Work

I've been doing a lot of work at my job on blogs, reformatting and rebuilding the university's news site, now powered by Movable Type 3.0, and also the first of what will be several faculty-authored blogs.

I've kept the design pretty simply so that it can be easily replicated across all the faculty blogs, forming a complete online news magazine of, by, and about the university. It has been my goal since I came to work here in January 2003 to create an entire online magazine via blogs that would both present university news and press releases and also share the knowledge and expertise of some of the university's best professors with the world via blogs. The first faculty blog, Dr. Jeff Cornwall's The Entrepreneurial Mind, is rapidly becoming a must-read for people interested in small-business and entrepreneurship, and more such professor-authored blogs are in the works. And here's the university news site, built on MT 3.0. The design colors and logo on both are likely to change - my focus has been on informational organization and presentation.

What a tricky way to be able to blog at work - get a job doing it. That way you may just have to keep two open at once, and if Dr. Bennett pops into your office, just switch screens.

Conversion at work... :)
