« TdF: The Lance Effect | Main | For the WaPo, Free Speech Means They Can Lie To You » July 6, 2004TdF: Unstoppable? Non.Wired magazine takes a look at "the hardware that makes Lance Armstrong an unstoppable cycling machine." Ah, but all the high-tech hardware in the world doesn't matter if the cyclist pedaling it isn't very very good. And, ah, all the high-tech hardware in the world doesn't matter if there's a crash and Lance is injured too badly to continue, or falls several minutes behind. I, too, am impressed by the technology, but in the end it's still the guy pumping the pedals, avoids the hazards, steers clear of the crashes, and stays healthy enough to pedal 2,100 miles in 23 days who largely determines whether the technology crosses the finish line first ... or not at all.
