Armstrong knows to pick his battles in the Tour. If you look at his history, he normally stays close to the front for the first few legs, but doesn't really take the lead until the mountain stages. That's his strength. Once he hits the mountains, he'll kick it up a notch. After the mountains, he just has to maintain a large enough time lead to win. OK, I simplify it a bit, but I didn't want to bore anyone. And you're a cycling guy anyway, you probably know more about it than I do.
