« Torturing The Truth | Main | Whither P.J.? » June 23, 2004Hi. I'm from Kerry's campaign, and I'm here to victimize you.Michael Dukakis' presidential hopes were dashed in part because, as governor, he released a vicious murderer on a weekend pass, and the guy went and killed again. Now, a group with strong ties to John Kerry's presidential campaign is doing something worse: It is sending criminals, including sexual predators, door to door to gather personal information from unsuspecting people. If I remember correctly, convicted murderer Willie Horton attacked a young couple in their own home while he was on furlough. He beat, raped, and stabbed the wife. He stabbed the husband repeatedly. Both survived. Nitpicking, I suppose. But Dukakis Democrats used to consider it significant that Horton didn't actually succeed in killing them. Posted by: lyle at June 23, 2004 05:31 PMI would probably have recommended against doing this. However, I am a little confused about the collection of personal information for the voter registration. How do the Republicans go about doing it? If someone comes to my door, how can I be sure he or she is not a felon and will coopt my information? I routinely give my driver's license number to store clerks when I write checks and I don't know anything about them. Posted by: SemiPundit at June 24, 2004 01:32 PMPost a comment
