« Artillery Fire | Main | Countdown to TdF » June 2, 2004Baseball Bible BobbleheadsI really don't know what to say about this: I bet Moses never thought he'd have his own bobblehead. I would like to go to the game Friday night, if schedule permits. The game is to be followed by a fireworks exhibition, and preceeded by a 5:00 p.m. concert by Denver & The Mile-High Orchestra, a Christian band that peformes Big Band-style music. Great music, baseball ... and a free Moses bobblehead. Posted in Sports

I suppose lightning (or the lack thereof) will do the report and decide for this game, huh. I actually like the idea - think it's kind of neat. Posted by: Tom at June 2, 2004 11:31 AMAm I the only one who finds it odd that people are surprised by marketing campaigns targeting a group that makes up at least half of the country? Seriously. Half the country goes to church on Sunday mornings, another 30% or so call themselves Christians. Yet when Mel Gibson made a Christian-targeted movie, and it went over well, it was considered some sort of genius. What are people worried about? Offending the 10 or 20% of the population that isn't Christian? I'm not dumping on Bill here, actually, I love this story. There's nothing to say about it; it's a good marketing campaign. Posted by: Michael Chaney at June 3, 2004 11:27 AMOh, I'm all for marketing to Christians. You're right, Michael, it makes perfect sense to market to the largest segment of the population. I just found the Moses bobblehead very amusing. Posted by: Bill Hobbs at June 3, 2004 11:36 AMI'm sorry. I suppose you find these amusing, but as a Christian myself, I don't see these things as anything but cheap, obnoxious little insults to my faith and the individual subjects. For church groups to actually want these makes me shake my own head in disbelief at the lack of respect people have for the symbols and fathers of their religion. Count me out. Posted by: Barry at June 3, 2004 03:44 PMI agree, Bill, very amusing, but pretty smart, too. What's wrong with it, Barry? Seriously? How's your faith being insulted by a Moses doll? My faith is insulted by people like Jim Bakker or Paul and Jan Crouch. Posted by: Michael Chaney at June 3, 2004 10:32 PMI have no problem with the Biblical Bobbleheads. Anything to remind people that I'm a believer works for me. I pay attention to special licence plates and things people have in their back windows. I'd like to have a Moses bobblehead if someone has one for sale. Posted by: Tredessa Crutcher at July 2, 2004 09:55 AMPost a comment
