« Defending Secular Democracy | Main | I'm Back! » April 6, 2004The American Entrepreneurial SpiritFound taped to my mailbox when I arrived home from my job: Evidence that at least some people will do almost anything to make a living instead of sit around and wait for government to "create jobs" or extend unemployment benefits. Such people are called entrepreneurs. Makin' money even if the economy is crappy. Ya gotta love the American entremanurial spirit. Posted in Economy & Business

Money is like manure, you have to spread it around. That saying just stuck in my head after reading that item... Posted by: Dave T. at April 6, 2004 08:31 PMThe inevitable response: "oh great, we're losing all these manufacturing jobs and you want us all to clean up crap!" Which just proves that the main point sails right over some people's heads: that manufacturing has been declining due to both automation and competition for decades, and that as time goes on, people find more and more new and different things to do, more and more specializations, more and more new ideas. The idea of someone making a living doing what I do today was all but inconceivable 30 years ago. The same will be true of many jobs 30 years hence, I expect.
