« Kerry Campaign Poster | Main | Owens in 2008 » March 24, 2004John Kerry: Mr. NoYou've seen the list of all the major weapons systems John Kerry sought to kill during his rabidly anti-defense career in the U.S. Senate. But voting against weapons systems in peacetime is one thing, voting to cut off funding for soldiers in a combat theater is something else. I wish this Bush ad coould air nationally a thousand times a day until every American has seen it. Posted in War on Terror

Gosh, whatever happened to FactCheck.Org? Used to be Mr. Hobbs' favorite site. Posted by: JadeGold at March 24, 2004 06:37 PMFactCheck says this ad is accurate on the central point - Kerry voted against funding for the troops in Iraq, including funding for body armor for those troops - but FactCheck doesn't like the spin and wishes some other info was in the ad. Fact is, Kerry voted against the $87 billion for the soldiers in Iraq. Here is the headline from the FactCheck piece on the ad: Did Kerry Vote "No" on Body Armor for Troops? Yes, along with $87 billion worth of other things. But Bush didn't send enough in the first place. I'm acvtually a tad disappointed in FactCheck for inserting an editorial comment, an opinion, into that above statement - "Bush didn't send enough in the first place." I would bet the military commanders believed they had "enough" to go in to battle with. Sure, they'd always like more - more bullets, more chow, more soldiers, more trucks, more of everything. And when it came time to spend the money to keep our troops fed and armed in a combat zone, Kerry said no. And, ahem, but if the troops didn't have "enough," well, perhaps that's because in 19 years in the Senate, John Kerry worked overtime to reduce spending on the military. Posted by: Bill Hobbs at March 24, 2004 06:49 PMBill, you're missing JG's important point: Kerry voted _for_ the $87B before he voted against it. That means he gets credit for voting for it.
