Pictures of the Modern American Left

Here are some good photo essays on a very significant part of the Democratic Party. Just call them John Kerry's base. [Found it via Michael Williams]

Tsk, tsk.

One could link to photos of the KKK or those lovely 'God Hates Fags' people or the Operation Rescue thugs and say this represents the GOP.

Of course, it can be demonstrated the GOP actively courts groups like the Neo-Confederates and Council of Conservative Citizens.

Posted by: JadeGold at March 23, 2004 06:46 PM

and it could be demonstrated that JFKerry's wife gives monetary support to those groups found amoung the photos linked to. . . .

But you'll cover that in your blog, right Jade?

JCrue: You do know Jerry Falwell got his start in VA as a segregationist, right?

Just so you know what side you're on...

Posted by: JadeGold at March 23, 2004 08:29 PM

"You do know Jerry Falwell got his start in VA as a segregationist, right?"

As a registered Democrat, too.

There weren't ANY Republicans in Virginia at that time. At least, any that would admit to being one.

The difference, JG, is that you don't see, say, Republican presidential candidates echoing views of the worst elements of the party extreme. You have seen Democratic presidential candidates echoing nutball conspiracy theories, "Bush lied," "Bush knew ," etc. The Republican party shoves our nuts into the margins; the Democrats let theirs hold the reins.

Posted by: Big Dog at March 23, 2004 09:25 PM

By the way, where did the Republican Party go? I kinda liked those guys. They had some good ideas.

Posted by: SemiPundit at March 24, 2004 12:52 AM

"JCrue: You do know Jerry Falwell got his start in VA as a segregationist, right?"

And Jade, you do know Robert Byrd, D-WV, got his start as a segregationist, too, right? Of course, segregationist is quite a mild term for "Klansman." Just so you know what side you're on.

Completely off-topic observation:

There are some babes at the rallies.

Posted by: Michael Chaney at March 24, 2004 09:42 AM

Don't you GET IT????

They are just exposing the evil genius idiot Bushitler's plot!
Bushitler KNEW 9-11 was going to happen, when and where and he deliberately let it happen so that he could use it as a political prop and get the chance to invade Afghanistan to kill innocent civillians for fun and then make sure Bin Laden got away so that he could blow up the Iraqi people to steal their OIIIIIL so that Cheney could make a FORTUNE on the Haliburton stock options he placed in a charitable trust and plans to steal back and distract us all from the genocide of the Palistinians by those evil JOOO NAZIS in ISRAEL!

All clear now?

Posted by: Random Numbers at March 24, 2004 10:35 AM

Man...why didn't I see that before? Better resign my commission, stop bathing and start protesting.

Posted by: Ivan at March 24, 2004 11:54 AM

uh yeah, thanks, Jade.

i didn't know pointing out that Heinz-Kerry supports radical left-wing groups placed me on any particular "side". i was just stating a fact.

i wonder, in keeping with the theme, if you would demonstrate to the group how closely GWB is tied to those far right-wing groups you know so much about, like the KKK, Robert Byrd's alma mater, for instance.

i'll look for your reply on your blog.

MC: There are some beautiful babies, but I don't get the impression they'd be interested.

Posted by: Michael Williams at March 24, 2004 06:12 PM

jcrue: Let's see if I can explain this to you.

There are, to be sure, kooks on both the left and right. Real tinfoil hat-types.

The big difference is that you don't see the DNC worrying about how to get that crucial 'Maoist Cross-Dressers for Space Exploration' vote.

OTOH, you have GOPers actively supporting and courting groups like the Moonies and the Council of Conservative Citizens. You had Trent Lott saying the C of CC represented the 'right values' for America. This wasn't 60 or 70 years ago.

Pat Robertson? Wrote a book about ten years ago warning about a global conspiracy run by Jewish bankers. Also likes to predict comets and hurricanes hitting certain areas that have gay pride parades.

Of course, who can forget Strom Thurmond? Ran for President under the slogan "Segregation Forever." Denied his own daughter for his entire life.

Of course, who can forget Bush's performance in Campaign 2000. Running against McCain in SC, the Bush campaign made phone calls to SC GOPers telling them McCain has a black daughter. Why would this appeal to GOPers?

Or how about Bush visiting Bob Jones U? A decade earlier, Bob Jones III called Bush I "a devil." Yet, Bush was pandering to this racist bigot.

See, J? This is who you're running with.

Posted by: JadeGold at March 24, 2004 06:34 PM

The difference is that when Klansmen run openly as Republicans, they lose because their own party runs against them (David Dukes). Dems elect theirs to the Senate for YEARS.

Posted by: SDN at March 24, 2004 06:56 PM

"The big difference is that you don't see the DNC worrying about how to get that crucial 'Maoist Cross-Dressers for Space Exploration' vote."

Of course the DNC doesn't worry about that vote...they already have it. Why waste valuable time and money courting your already-loyal base?

Strom never "denied" his daughter. It's well documented he cared for and provided for her for years, as well as paid for her college education (a rarity among African Americans in those days). He may not have openly acknowledged her, but that just isn't the same as "denying" her. Hell, ask her...she'll tell you he was decent to her.

Lefties always bring up Strom as a counter to Byrd. Strom won 22% of the black vote in his last campaign in '96, was the first southern senator to have black staff members and support black judicial nominations, abolished the poll tax as Gov of SC, and voted for the Martin Luther King Day holiday as well as the 25 year extension of the Voting Rights Act.

Strom isn't the demon the left make him out to be. His segregationist days are remembered more for what Lott said about them than anything Strom actually did.

BTW, I was living in SC as a registered Republican in 2000 and never received a phone call about John McCain. Please prove the Bush campaign had something to do with those allegations.

Posted by: Ivan at March 24, 2004 09:08 PM

You miss the standard Jackass Goldbrick tactic here, Ivan. He doesn't have to prove the truth of his allegation, you have to prove it never happened. Lack of evidence is not accepted.

Posted by: Random Numbers at March 24, 2004 11:30 PM

wow. what an analysis there JG. i am still waiting an explanation that makes sense and an argument you can validate and equivocate to the original reply i posted to the first comment you made on this site. it gets tiring for you to continue to deflect other people's arguments without addressing them.

so back to the original issue, are you denying that the potential (D) nominee for POTUS would embrace those who marched on March 20th?

i can assure you GWBush would refuse the support of the KKK or neo-Confederates if they marched in the streets as was done March 20th.

just so you know who you run with Jade

Posted by: jcrue at March 25, 2004 05:02 PM

That's weak, even by your standards, Ivan. You didn't get a call--so it must not have happened, right?

Rove and SC Push Poll

Of course, the point goes right over your head. It's bad enough the Bush campaign would use such a tactic of calling SC voters and asking, "Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain for president if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?"--it's that the Bush campaign knew this would appeal to GOP voters.

Posted by: JadeGold at March 25, 2004 05:03 PM

Gee, JCrue. I never figured you for a Bob Jones U. supporter.

Here are some neat quotes from Bob Jones III:

"We basically accept that there are three races -- Caucasians, Negroes and Orientals. Caucasians can't date Orientals. Orientals can't date Caucasians, and neither of them can date Negroes."

Bob Jones also called the Pope "the antichrist" and deemed the Catholic Church a "Satanic cult."

"Romanism is a pagan counterfeit of the Christian religion, ancient paganism and idolatry, claiming to be the church which Christ founded...The Roman Church is not another Christian denomination. It is a satanic counterfeit, an ecclesiastic tyranny over the souls of men, not to bring them to salvation but to hold them bound in sin and to hurl them into eternal damnation. It is the old harlot of the book of the Revelation--'the Mother of Harlots.'...Threats and fear have been her weapons. Her wealth has dazzled, her ceremonies blinded the eyes of her devotees to the blackness of her purpose and the rottenness of her heart."

Still more:

God is the author of [racial] segregation and that if you are against it, then you are against God Almighty"

Nice crowd you run with, J.

I think he works at a restaurant where I ate once with my wife and her family. I won't name the place, but if you watch the news you already know where it is.

Posted by: Michael Chaney at March 25, 2004 11:12 PM

That's right, Jade. Just keep attacking, and maybe we'll forget that you actively support some of the foulest types of people that the world has ever seen. Of course, you never really provide any proof for your slander, lies, and insinuations. You never have. You are a liar, a fraud, and a troll.

And we already know what side you're on.
