The report didn't come from NPR or the BBC, so it can't possibly be true. ;) Posted by: Dave T. at March 23, 2004 07:57 AMI don't think any of the deniers will be happy, however, unless there is direct evidence that Saddam supported Osama in planning or funding the 9/11 attacks. Anything else is meaningless. Posted by: Barry at March 23, 2004 09:58 AMCome on. Ahmad Chalabi is a dishonest opportunist who has consistently failed to provide accurate intelligence about Iraqi weapons programs and Al Qaeda connections. He simply can't be trusted, so neither can this "evidence" of a Saddam-Al Qaeda link. Posted by: Gary Manca at March 23, 2004 11:27 AMIt does seem a little suspicious, considering the source. I suppose that somewhere in our government files could be found a similar document bearing the name of our ally Osama bin Laden and his Afghan Mujahadeen. Posted by: SemiPundit at March 23, 2004 02:02 PMKeep hoping, Bill, keep hoping.... Posted by: Michael Chaney at March 23, 2004 06:19 PMWhy would anyone believe the Moonie Times? And Ahmed Chalabi is just a garden-variety con-man. I find it incredible so many rightwingers on this site--after their fawning and swooning over Mel Gibson's movie--would then turn around and quote, approvingly, a newspaper that's owned by Korean felon who happens to be sure he's the Messiah. Posted by: JadeGold at March 23, 2004 06:23 PMJG doesn't want to believe it, so it must not be true! Posted by: Big Dog at March 23, 2004 08:54 PMWhat would Jesus do with Osama and Saddam? Posted by: SemiPundit at March 24, 2004 12:36 AMWhat would jesus do? You are forgetting all those old testament chapters about pillars of fire and so and so smote so and so. Jesus would have nujed them both off course. ;) And what would be in US govt files on Osama is that he is a guy with money. Osama funded his own group of people and did not much care toassociate with americans, even at that time. Semipundit, what is funny is that you expect the worse of your own government and the best of Saddams'. You can't obviously think there is no connection. Based on what evidence. I know the argument a radical islamist would never work with a secular, godless totalitarian state would they? Not like North Korea and Iran did. Oh wait, that's different somehow..... ;) Posted by: capt joe at March 24, 2004 09:13 AMColumbian Gold like all the Democratic Undergrounders would never believe a connection even if Saddam and Osama (if protein paste on Tora Bora can be re-animated) posed for a photo opand admitted the whole thing. Posted by: capt joe at March 24, 2004 09:17 AMThe following information came out in the 9-11 hearings yesterday: William Cohen in his sworn testimony on March 23, 2004, said that the Clinton administration bombed the Sudan pharmaceutical factory because Osama bin Laden had invested money in the plant, because the plant owner had traveled to BAGHDAD to meet with the Iraqi head of VX nerve gas research. In a Washington Post article January 23, 1999, Richard Clarke made similar accusations about the ties with bin Laden and Iraq. Now Clarke says there are no ties. Hmmmmmm. Gee, now that the 9-11 panel has shown that there has been a long and collaborative relationship between Al Queda and Saddam what will the slanderous Bush haters do now?
