A Response to A Major Criticism of the Taxpayers Bill of Rights » March 21, 2004More on "Punks for Bush"In response to yesterday's post about a New York Times article spotlighting support for President Bush in an unlikely venue - punk rockers and fans - Mike Hollihan sends a link to a recent Washington Times story about Johnny Ramone, former leader of the seminal punk rock band The Ramones, and current big backer of President Bush and the Republican Party. He was a rebel in a rebel's world, though. Johnny Ramone was a fiercely Republican-voting, NRA-supporting musician in a milieu that is remarkable for its embrace of all things left.I never bought anything by The Ramones. But I might, just for that. Posted in Campaign Season

I am myself a big puck rock fan, and to be sure all of us are not as left as can be. I've always been a Ramones fan, but since I refuse to buy a CD I will have to support them in other ways. Great post! Posted by: Rick at March 21, 2004 08:48 PMthat is the dumbest thing i ever heard punks are not "for" any type of government as you put it. And if we were we would support Kerry because we are against the religious *right that Bush is controlled by. Religion is fear, fear the threat of something unreal abdicate the way you feel Kriss A vote for Kerry is a vote for socialist humanism (communism). Good luck having your new "punk" music in your communist utopias "comrade". As it says above, Johnny knew the truth. Old School Punk Post a comment
