« LLC Data Project Update #2 | Main | Blogosphere 1, NYT 0 » March 15, 2004Naming NamesSen. John Kerry refuses to name the names of the "foreign leaders" who he claims have endorsed his presidential bid. And a few days ago he dismissed a citizen's question asking for the names by noting the man was a Republican and a Bush supporter and it wasn't any of his business. Well how conveeeenient. But how utterly detestable. But, ahem, Sen. Kerry, it is you who decided you want to be my president. It is you who first mentioned these alleged foreign leaders' alleged endorsement. It is our business to ask who, exactly, you are talking about. For it matters, Sen. Kerry, if you have been endorsed privately by Britain's Tony Blair or North Korea's Kim Jong Il, Australia's John Howard or Iran's supreme leader and Islamofascist terrorist funder Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Poland's Aleksander Kwaśniewski or Syria's Bashar al Assad. We're in a war, Sen. Kerry, and we need to know if you lied when you said you were endorsed by foreign leaders - or, even worse, if you have been endorsed by the leaders of countries that wish us ill. We're in a war, Sen. Kerry, and there are plenty of foreign leaders who are on the other side. Were you endorsed by them or by our friends? It is our business because it matters. It only matters because the truth would expose Kerry to the world as the phony sack of excrement that he is. He didn,t meet any leaders and never saw the looks in their eyes as he claimed. This sack's past is full of lies and deceit. Consider his four month tour of duty in Nam where he awarded himself and his band of brothers enough Purple Hearts to get early outs. How many do you think ever got three Puple Hearts and yet had no scars or limp to show for it. Posted by: Richard Arnone at March 15, 2004 08:14 PMIt is childish to ask a presidential candidate for the truth? Posted by: Bill Hobbs` at March 15, 2004 08:28 PMAdaplant, Are you an ignorant moron because you don't seek the answer to an obvious question? Posted by: Lance at March 15, 2004 08:33 PMKerry has also sent an email to Mehr News Agency, which published it on the front page of the Tehran Times. Here is an excerpt: "America needs the kind of leadership that will repair alliances with countries on every continent that have been so damaged in the past few years, as well as build new friendships and overcome tensions with others." This just spells out to the Iraanians: Don't do anything and if I am elected you're ok. The terrorists have to call Kerry "Insurance Man." This link for details.
Three quick thoughts. First, this is a non-trivial matter, which is potentially *very* damaging to Kerry's crediblity. Second, he speaks fluent French, so it's probably Cherac and/or Cretien, if true. Third, on the other hand, he may well have fabricated the entire story. Posted by: Tonto at March 15, 2004 11:41 PMOne point not being made much of is the fact that the "Republican" he tried to intimidate was attending a townhall meeting where EVERYONE was invited. I guess the invitation should have said Dems only. If he didn't want to name the "world leaders" he met with or spoke with, then why announce it to the public? To tease us? I suspect that Kerry made the comment to pander to the current leftist dogma that the entire world hates the US. However, he never really expected to have someone call his bluff on it. Now that the Democratic primaries/caucases are pretty much wrapped up, Kerry will now have to deal with voters who won't be taking his word at face value. He's not off to a very good start. Posted by: Dave T. at March 16, 2004 08:16 AMThe problem is... if he really did meet with foreign leaders, did he make certain promises in order to get their endorsements? Instead of working with the current administration, are these leaders now going to wait until the election to make decisions, hoping for a Kerry win to reap the benefits of Kerry's cooperation/appeasement? Posted by: Liz at March 16, 2004 10:30 AMAre these foreign leaders from France, Germany, or Belgium? Are they trying to work to save Kerry's bid the same way they worked to keep the U.S. from invading Iraq and spoiling their preferential contracts for oil exploration? Posted by: Meatss at March 16, 2004 12:10 PMI sure hope he's lying, because it's far worse if he's not. I want a president who'll promote *my* interests, not Putin's, Schroeder's and Chirac's. What I really can't fathom is how an allegedly professional politician could be tone-deaf enough to think that foreign endorsements would sway American voters in his direction. And the Democrats picked this guy because they thought he was electable? Posted by: ralph phelan at March 16, 2004 12:54 PMEither Kerry (or his supporters) are conducting private, unacredited diplomacy (which is a federal offense) or they are lying. If I were Bush, I'd be pressing charges. Let's see what a few subpoenas will show. I suspect I know (option 2), but let's see Kerry weasel around that under oath. Posted by: SDN at March 16, 2004 09:04 PMKerry was AWOL at the time he'd have us believe he was meeting with foreign leaders (or any leaders. TomCom Posted by: TomCom at March 16, 2004 10:48 PMIts obvious that kerry lies, so whats the big deal? Bush never lied? How conveniently he changed his stance from "Iraq has WNDs" to Iraq sought WMDs". So Kerry told the republican that asked him to name world leaders that it was none of his business. At least he didnt cuss him like Cheney did. The list of comparisons is endless. Come on people. Maybe Gore lost on a technicality, when heshould have wone. Maybe. But lets say he did, would a president that said "I invented the Internet" really have been a good choice? Why don't we all read up on our facts?
