« Coffee Break | Main | Taxing the 'Net: Alexander Backs Down a Bit » February 16, 2004Attention, GOP Candidates...Attention, Republicans running for office: Advertising on blogs is a great way to raise campaign donations. With an investment of only $2,000, and in less than two weeks, the campaign has raked in between $45,000 and $50,000 in contributions from blog readers, and that number is growing every day, said Chandler campaign manager Mark Nickolas.Republicans are advertising less on blogs right now than Democrats, at least via the Blogads service. That needs to change. Posted in Campaign Season

I would submit that what also needs to change is the practice of conservative/libertarian/republican leaning blogs taking money from Dem candidates for Blog Ads. It is the political equivalent of "blood money." Posted by: The Opinionator at February 16, 2004 11:50 AMPlease note that I have not encouraged Democrats to advertise on my site. However, if a Democrat like Zell Miller were to submit an ad, I'd accept it. Posted by: Bill at February 16, 2004 12:37 PMBill, I was thinking of Glenn Reynolds specifically. He is running ads for just about every democrat running, including my old mayor in Anchorage, Tony Knowles. Had a house near his and as a result I never had to wait for the streets to be cleared! I cannot fathom taking money from a dem candidate on my blog. Dems are using popular center-right blogs like Instapundit because they can and because no one will turn down the money.
