I just learned that a book - Ring of Fire: A Tribute to Johnny Cash - written by my good friend and former editor, Brian Mansfield, has been nominated for a Belmont Book Award. I didn't even know he'd written the book - but I don't have to read the book to know it's good - Mansfield, who formerly edited New Country magazine and now writes about country music for USA Today, is a naturally gifted writer and a human database of American music history. So if you're a fan of the late, great Johnny Cash, I urge you to buy the book.
