A Month of Fun

I moved HobbsOnline to its new URL on Jan. 1 with both anticipation and trepidation. I looked forward to the great features of MovableType publishing software, a great redesign by Todd Anderson, and a much simpler and more easily remembered URL - but wondered if I'd lose readership, and if the many blogs that had linked to me before would update their. Well, I needn't have worried. HobbsOnline has more inbound links from other blogs at its new home than it ever had at the old Blogspot site, and traffic is soaring.

In January, HobbsOnline was visited by 18,261 different people. The most read single post was The 'Jobless' Recovery Isn't Jobless, read 4,177 times, followed by Bush Awol? FactCheck.org Says No, read 3,616 times, and the Was Bush Awol? category archive page, read 3,483 times. My white paper on the Taxpayers Bill of Rights was downloaded 60 times.

Interesting. Given your blogrolled status with some of the major players, who helped publicize the move, you needn't have worried. Indeed, a lot of people are reluctant to link blogspot sites because the permalinks are often shot.
