« Freed Iranian Blogger Speaks | Main | Go Packers. » January 9, 2004Data! We Got Data! Thanks to the move of HobbsOnline to its new home on the web, I now have access to a much wider array of data on site traffic, thanks to Verve Hosting, which hosts my site. So far, since January 1, HobbsOnline has been visited by 5,060 unique visitors, looking at a total of 268,858 pages (or 16.45 pages per visit), and consumed 2.64 gigabytes of bandwidth. My hosting charge of $10 per month includes use of up to 10 GB of bandwidth. So far, tip jar contributions have been sufficient to cover basic operational costs. Thanks to Michael Williams for recommending Verve Hosting. Posted in Site News

My pleasure! I think, though, that the unique visitors have each visited more than once, and that the pages served should be divided by the total number of visits, not the number of visitors. Does that make sense? I highly doubt that people are viewing 16 pages each every time they come, although I don't doubt that each unique visitor has viewed 16 pages total across all their visits. Posted by: Michael Williams at January 9, 2004 02:35 PMHmm. That's probably right. Just reported the data that Verve Hosting/Awstats gave me, but should've looked at it closer. 16 pages per unique visitor - NOT 16 pages per VISIT. Heh. Actually, that makes sense.
