« No Credibility | Main | Photos from the RNC » September 5, 2008The Future is NowSarah Palin rocked the Republican National Convention, altered the fundamentals of the presidential campaign, and is now the most popular politician on the American national stage. And that's despite the concerted efforts of the national media to sink her. I predict a lot of straight-talkin' moms running for office all over America in the coming years. In related news, Palin's acceptance speech drew nearly the same number of viewers as Barack Obama's - more than 40 million people. Given that Obama has been the subject of intense media coverage for more than a year now, while Palin was a complete to most every American other than Alaskans, I'd bet that most of Obama's viewers were already predisposed to support him before the speech, while Palin's audience likely included millions of undecided voters. What does that mean? It may mean that Palin had a much bigger upside potential for impacting the presidential race poll numbers. Posted in Campaign Season

You all are in for big trouble with Palin. She's going to be your Eagleton. 1. At it's WORST, "troopergate" involves a sister worried about her sister's violent ex-husband who tasered a kid. And the person that Palin fired was a political appointee who she was entitled to fire for ANY reason. There's no scandal there. (And do you really want to be the party that brought down the popular governor because she was trying to protect her sister from a potentially violent ex husband?) 2. Earmarks? Voters will distinguish between her efforts as mayor of a small town and her anti-earmarks stance as governor. She did kill the bridge to nowhere project. She did sell the governor's jet. She did cut spending and rebate surplus revenue to the people of Alaska. 3. The Alaska Independence Party story has already been in the media and the media has already determined there's nothing there - she wasn't a member. Frankly, if that's all you got - and, judging from how fast the media/Left axis descended into misogynistic attacks on her, it is - there's nothing there that amounts to much. Posted by: BIll Hobbs at September 7, 2008 7:04 AMThe AIP does not "hate America." Its founder may have, but if hating America were necessary for getting the AIP started it would never have been formed. Unlike Ms. Cobb, I've known actual AIP members. Anyway, these days it's kind of laughable to hear Democrats criticize another party for "hating America." Posted by: McGehee at September 7, 2008 2:26 PMPost a comment
