Arnold Schwarzenegger is proposing a "temporary" 1-cent sales tax increase. Such tax increases are never temporary, of course. If Arnold gets hits way, Californians will be paying the new 8.25-cent sales tax rate until, well, until the next "fiscal crisis" created by over-spending during the fat years causes another governor and another legislature to tack on another cent or half-cent "temporary" tax increase.
