Bredesen Watch

Yesterday's USA Today carried Gov. Phil Bredesen's last-ditch attempt to get on Barack Obama's vice presidential short list. Today, via the Wall Street Journal, Phil threw in the towel.

Exit Question 1: Since 1961, the cost of a gallon of gas has risen from 31 cents to $4 a gallon, a 13-fold increase. Since 1961 the federal budget has grown thirty-fold from 97.7 billion in 1961 to $2,931 billion this year. If Gov. Bredesen thinks healthcare costs rising faster than gasoline since he left high school in 1961 makes healthcare - not the cost of energy - the bigger economic issue, then what about the cost of government?

Exit Question 2: Do they sell arugula at the Wal-Mart?
