The $4 Political Realignment

TigerHawk notes the rise of "gas pump conservatives" - liberals who now support increased domestic oil drilling, especially offshore and in the tiny corner of Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge that was set aside in the 1970s for future oil exploration. TigerHawk points to recent Pew Research polling data on the issue. Pew notes that "Much of the increase in support for energy exploration has come among groups that previously viewed this as a less important priority than energy conservation - young people, liberals, independents, Democrats, women and people who have attended college."
