McCain Wins as Obama Goes to Iraq

McCain uses Obama's trip to Iraq to highlight the fact that, on Iraq, Obama was wrong and McCain was right:

Let's be clear, the only reason that the conversation about reducing troop levels in Iraq is happening is because John McCain challenged the failed Rumsfield-strategy in Iraq and argued for the surge strategy that is responsible for the successes we've achieved and which Barack Obama opposed. Unlike Barack Obama, John McCain has never ignored the facts on the ground in Iraq, he's never avoided the warzone before proposing new strategy, and he's never voted against funding our troops in the field. If John McCain was following Barack Obama's lead on foreign policy, the United States would have already withdrawn from Iraq in a humiliating defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.
McCain made such a big issue of Obama not having been to Iraq in almost three years in order to highlight Obama's lack of experience, knowledge and interest in the actual facts on the ground regarding the issue of the Iraq. And now that he's goaded Obama into making the trip, the trip itself is exposing just how wide the gap was between Obama's rhetoric and the reality that is Iraq.

It also highlights again how McCain would rather lose an election than have America lose a war, while Obama was pushing for America to lose a war as part of his pursuit of winning an election.

Nicely played, McCain.

There's a lot of rational thinking Americans who oppose McCain. But the assertion that Obama "was pushing to lose the war" is lunacy.

Now, if we could just get Maverick to visit ANWAR.

I stand by my statement. Obama was calling for America to quit the Iraq war at the very moment al Qaeda and the Islamist insurgents were at the peak of their progress. Us leaving would have resulted in us losing.

McCain has consistently urged adoption of strategies to WIN the war in Iraq.

Obama has consistently promised to "end" the war in Iraq, and never coupled "ending" the war to winning it. Ending it, not winning it, is his highest priority because it is the highest priority of the anti-victory American Left.

If elected, Obama will make a small show of trying to "win" in Afghanistan, then will announce we must pull out to make the Afghanis do it. The Afghanistan war was, after all, opposed from day one by MoveOn.org, which pulls Obama's puppet strings on the war issue.
