Worshipping Obama

This is one of those unbelievable things that emanate from New Age-y places like San Francisco from time to time. It's completely off-the-charts wacko, but fun to read and wonder what drugs influenced the author...

Barack Obama isn't really one of us. Not in the normal way, anyway...

Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul.

Yeah, that's gonna play real well in heartland America, amongst the "coweringly religious" folks who "cling" to God.

Bah.

Obama doesn't speak to my soul. There was one messiah, and Obama wasn't Him. The truth is, Obama is a light-on-the-achievements product of a corrupt Chicago political machine that tolerates terrorists and puts up with the likes of racists like Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright. He spent a few minutes in the Illinois state Senate where he voted against legislation that would have required hospitals provide medical assistance to babies who were born alive despite an attempted abortion. I don't believe in "Lightworkers," but if they exist I doubt they vote to let babies die, but Obama did.

I keep expecting every picture of O to miraculously have a halo.

I believe there are Lightworkers and avatars: ordinary people with an extraordinary impulsion, mission, and gathering of force. They lead symbolic lives. MLK was one.

As for the gushing over Obama above, folks have to keep in mind that it is exactly what would be said about the Antichrist, if you swing that way. I'm not saying Obama is that or that his intentions aren't good. I mean that we have been fooled many times, so don't get fooled again. Color me skeptical.

Not a lightworker... a LIGHTWEIGHT.

Maybe if you spent a little more time allowing Obama to speak to your soul, and a little less time putting up pictures of him in Muslim garb, you'd become a better human being. Give it a try. I still have hope for you, Bill.

There was one messiah

Ronald Reagan?

Cute, Sean, but no - and if you have read any of the many posts I've written over the years here on faith and grace and religion you'd know that I don't believe elected leaders, even the great ones like Ronald Reagan, are the Messiah, that only Jesus the Christ, born in Nazareth, claims that title.

Benintn - only God speaks to my soul. I have seen Barack O'babble for what he is: A rhetorically smooth empty suit who beguiles large crowds of the willingly beguiled with empty slogans and platitudes. He is modern politics' snake oil salesman.
