Time to Flunk the Democrats

tnflag.jpgRob Shearer at the Tennessee ConserVOLiance blog has written a must-read analysis of the battle for control of the Tennessee state legislature, and urges home-schooler families to put time and money into helping Republicans win a majority. Shearer writes:

[Republicans] need to capture four seats currently held by Democrats. They have targeted six, and, there is a realistic chance of capturing them. They probably won't get all six, but stranger things have happened. And for all those who care about conservative issues (accountable judges, protecting marriage, reducing abortions, protecting the right of parents to homeschool, protecting the right to own firearms), changing the control of the House from Democrat to Republican may be the most important cause to take up between now and November.
Given the Democrats are beholden to the anti-home-schooling public education unions and won't lift a finger to protect or expand home-schooling rights, and given that this year the Bredesen administration launched a bureaucratic effort to devalue the diplomas of graduates of home schools operated under the oversight of church-related schools, it's excellent advice.

Be careful what you ask for Bill. It makes perfect sense for the GOP to court politically active and aware voters. It is also suicide to not deliver on the promises made to those voters. This isn't the first time the GOP has "cried wolf".

(still remembering the GOP's 1994 "Contract" with America which sadly only brought more "official evasion and posturing" it criticized)

Representatives Rowland, Campfield and Bell have my support - but not because of the (R) after their names - it is because they are working to protect sovereign parental rights. I see this support on the "other side of the aisle" occasionally as well (Rep. Windle comes to mind), especially the further removed they are from a large, urban center and associated, vote-dependent, monetary gain.
