Bredesen - who fought valiantly to bring the state's judicial selection commission out from behind closed doors, only to be rebuffed by the legislature - has come out against restoring the right of Tennessee voters to decide who sits on the bench. ... It's disappointing that a political leader with such an acute sense of the problems of secret judicial selections won't trust the same voters who elected him to pick the state's judges.Well put. Reminds me of the exchange from Blazing Saddles when Mel Brooks as governor Le Petomane arrives at the decoy town of Rock Ridge with the cut-out facsimiles of the townspeople: Reporter: Sir, those are dummies. When did he "say" such a thing? Or are you just taking opportunistic partisan liberties so you can re-interpret and condense the debate into something us dummies can understand? Sorta ironic, huh? You "condense" the issue to "he says we are too dumb" because you think we are too dumb to hear the whole debate. Posted by: Johnny Sanchez at June 16, 2008 8:53 AMPost a comment
