« Yes We Did | Main | Putting Country First » June 26, 2008Bullseye BarackThis AP headline says all you need to know about where John McCain and Barack Obama stand when it comes to protecting your Second Amendment rights: McCain backs gun decision, Obama straddles issue. The record shows that, when he's not running for President, Obama favors very strict gun control. He is the most anti-gun candidate ever nominated for president by a major political party in American history. How anti-gun? He once told an interviewer, simply and without equivocation, gray area or wiggle room, "I don't believe that people should be able to own guns." The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America says otherwise, Barack. Yesterday wasn't a day for equivocation, for straddling the issue, for trying to play to your liberal anti-gun base without losing your tenuous hold on those "bitter" gun-clingers among the rural working folks, Barack. It was a day to celebrate a moment of pure Constitutional clarity when the United States Supreme Court reaffirmed one of the most central rights of American citizenship. It was a day to cheer as the Court reiterated what the the founders of this country and the framers of the Constitution said: Americans have a right to keep and bear arms. It was a day to celebrate a resurgence of liberty. You missed the moment, Barack. John McCain didn't. That's clarifying. Posted in Second Amendment
