« Cue The Ominous Music | Main | Walk Softly » June 4, 2008al Qaeda, Obama and the War on TerrorShireen K. Burki, an adjunct professor of political science at the University of Mary Washington, in Fredericksburg, Va., has a life story somewhat similar to that of Barack Obama: Just as he is the son of a Muslim father and a Christian mother, she is the daughter of a Muslim father and a Christian mother. Just as Obama spent part of his childhood in a majority-Muslim country (Indonesia) and attended an Islamic school, Burki spent her childhood in Islamabad, Pakistan, where she studied Islam at school. So you can't just dismiss what she has to say in her article in today's Christian Science Monitor exploring how al Qaeda might view the prospect of Obama in the White House, and how they might leverage his presidency as a recruiting tool. Of course I can ignore it. I don't get intimidated by terrorists. I'm an American. Are you scared of something, Bill? Because if I were you, I'd be more concerned about BURNING MOSQUES IN COLUMBIA and RACIST GRAFFITI IN FRANKLIN, not what Al Qaeda thinks. You want reason for Al Qaeda to recruit? How about a former Navy undersecretary who helped to support, aid, and abet the Iran-Contra scandal? John McCain is 1,000 times more risky on national security than Obama. Posted by: benintn at June 4, 2008 11:58 AMObama got a standing ovation from AIPAC this morning, and is more pro Israel than McCain. Obama stated that Jerusalem will remain undivided, while McCain is willing to give 1/2 away, just like Bush. McCain wants to negotiate with Hamas. Obama won't unless Hamas recognizes Israel's right to exist in peace and as a Jewish state. Those are the facts, my friend. Posted by: Sharon Cobb at June 4, 2008 12:50 PMPost a comment
