In his columns when he was at The Tennessean Chavez called things like he saw them, conservative on some issues, liberal on others, but the former regime at The Tennessean pretended he was a "conservative," in order to tamp down complaints that all of the paper's local columnists were liberal. Tim Chavez is/was one of the most honest reporters/columnists I know. I lost touch with him over the years, but respected that he always championed children. I look forward to what he has to say. I brought this to the attention of the top editor then -- Frank Whatever-his-name-is, the one with a wine column -- and Frank told me there are many kinds of conservatives. There sure the heck are! Well, Tim did recommend Nancy Pelosi which would be a conservative Republican's dream VP for Obama. She would deliver San Francisco to him with 98% of the vote rather than 97.9% of the vote and leave no doubt that Obama's priority as President would be the nominate SCOTUS judges who would deliver the Brown v.
